Children's Programming at Stowe Mountain Lodge
Daily Fun
Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is available at the Alpine Concierge and Guest Reception desk at all times. This self-guided journey will guide you around the mountain and lodge, discovering our legendary resort.
Jump Up & Play
Each day our recreation staff will provide complimentary scheduled activities taking place throughout the resort. Games, crafts, and educational activities round out this portfolio of fun!
Kid's Adventure Guide
The Kid’s Adventure Guide is the ultimate in customized child care with adventure. This service allows children to hire a guide to help them create their very own adventure. Guides work with as many as 5 children to meet their specific adventure needs.
All guided children’s activities require 24 hours notice prior to the beginning of the session. Please specify if you wish a private session.
Half Day including a snack and activities - 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm: $100 *additional Sibling: $70
Full Day including snacks, lunch, and activities - 9am – 4pm: $170 *additional Sibling: $140
Kid’s Adventure Guide options may include gondola rides, hiking, biking, fishing, crafts, climbing wall, games, canoeing, and the alpine slide.
Activity Programming is based off the following themes:
Crafts – Participate in art and craft projects that you may not normally see! Learn about local arts and crafts by visiting or participating with local artisans such as glass blowing, metal works, pottery, beading, and painting. Allow us to help your child fulfill her/his creative hunger!
Outdoor Education – Learn about the environment around you! Learn about the flora, fauna, rocks, water, and climate that make Vermont so unique.
Outdoor Adventure – Learn outdoor skills and put them to the test...rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing, outdoor survival skills, and more!
The Vermont Way – Explore the Vermont way of life and all our specialties. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Vermont Teddy Bear, Vermont train system, maple sugar houses, cider mills, and Cabot Cheese are just a few exciting options.

Kid's Night Out
Kid’s Night Out is an evening program that will run Thursday – Saturday each week from 6pm – 9pm. Kid’s Night Out is currently scheduled to begin Thursday, July 3, 2008. Each night will include a farm-to-table dinner and activities for kids. $75.
Outdoor Adventure for Everyone
Come join us for an outdoor adventure. Let our Alpine Concierge know what you love to do or what you’ve always wanted to do and let your adventure begin. ENJOY!
Activities include fly fishing with our Orvis Guides, biking, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, winery visits, scenic drives, maple sugar houses, cider mills, kayaking, canoeing, and more!
Guided Hikes
Private Guided Hike
1.5 - 2hr $90.00 per person
Every extra 1/2 hr $10.00 per person
Let us guide you into the mountains for 1.5 - 2 hours for up to 2 people. Guides will provide sherpa service for your belongings if necessary. Hiking trips will be chosen from pre-determined routes based on your needs. A supplemental fee may be applied for extra time.
Group Guided Hike
1.5 - 2hr – per person $60.00 per person
Every extra 1/2 hr $10.00 per person
Would you like to join a group? Jump into one of our scheduled daily hikes. One guide will lead up to 7 people for 2 hours. Trips are chosen from pre-determined routes and chosen by the Recreation Staff. A supplemental fee may be applied for extra time. Note: Groups could be made up of different parties.
Private Expedition Hikes
Prices start at $150 per person
This is your chance to go big in the mountains. Let us create the hike you want! Half day or full day hikes built to your specifications. Each hike is created to meet your specific adventure needs.
Ex: Specific Peak(s), difficulty level, technical level, distance. Includes lunch
Stowe Mountain Lodge Children's Programming Details
Children 6 - 14 Years Old: Stowe Mountain Lodge Kid's activities are designed for 6-14 year old children. Children that will be 6 by September 1st of the coming school year will be allowed to participate in the programs as well. Please place your reservations with our program at least 24 hours in advance as activity session may sell out.
Children Under 6: For children age 5 and under, the Alpine Concierge can help organize your child's day care needs with a minimum 48 hour notice.
Babysitting service: Evening care can be arranged by the Alpine Concierge with a 24 hour notice. An extra fee will be required and paid to the babysitter.
Important Information for All Children's Activities:
Please schedule extra time to check your child in with our recreation staff at the beginning of each session to fill out information sheets and to discuss snack and meal items as well as the day's activities.
- Please take time to inform the Recreation Staff of any allergies or medical issues.
- All children participating in the SML Kid's programs should be fully potty trained and out of diapers.
- Any children requiring medication need to be able to self administer.
- Each child should arrive to an activity with:
- Water for the day (no more than 1 liter is necessary)
- Sturdy sneakers or boots (sorry, no sandals or flip-flops will be allowed)
- Sunscreen
- Warm shirt or jacket (weather changes quick in the mountains)
- Any necessary medications.
