Stowe Mountain Lodge Elevates Meetings and Events to New Unparalleled Heights

December 2010 Marks Grand Opening of South Wing and Performing Arts Center

Stowe Mountain Lodge, a Destination Hotels & Resort property, is redefining meetings in the Northeast with the announcement of a second phase of guest accommodations and performing arts center, both opening this month.  Stowe Mountain Lodge is New England’s preeminent ski-in/ski-out mountain lodge located at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort—a destination for all four seasons.  As the centerpiece of the resort, this 2-year old luxury lodge has already made its footprint on the meetings scene. Doubling the current room capacity and creating a performing arts center second to none only adds to the appeal of hosting meetings and events at Stowe Mountain Lodge year round.

Stowe Mountain Lodge is located in the quintessential New England town of Stowe, Vt.  Stowe not only impresses conference attendees with its rich historical roots, but it also boasts some of the most impressive natural landscape in the country.  With a variety of gourmet artisan restaurants and food shops, wine tastings, high-end boutiques and quaint walking village, Stowe is home to many luxuries which complement the four-diamond Stowe Mountain Lodge.  Conveniently located to the largest markets on the East, Stowe Mountain Lodge provides all the benefits of a destination resort with incredible accessibility.  Stowe is just a short 3-hour drive from Boston, and only 45-minutes from Burlington International Airport—hosting non-stop flights from New York City, Washington DC, Montreal, Chicago and many other destinations.

Supplementing the existing vibrant and continuous growth of Stowe Mountain Resort, the additional accommodations at Stowe Mountain Lodge opened today-- December 10, 2010.  The South Wing will more than double the lodge’s current room capacity, adding 173 guest rooms and bringing the total room count to 312.  These luxurious guest accommodations will uphold the same commitment to the finest, most eco-conscience standards maintained by Stowe Mountain Lodge.

Spruce Peak, adjacent to Stowe Mountain Lodge, already boasts over 30,000 square-foot of function space.  December 2010 will also mark the opening of the highly anticipated Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center with grand opening benefit concert by the five-time Grammy Award winning artist James Taylor.  Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art performing arts theater that was meticulously crafted to showcase the sights and sounds of each presentation held within its walls.  Boasting 420 seats, this multi-purpose center will support lectures, presentations, multi-media displays and a wide range of other events year-round.  Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center provides meeting planners with yet another impressive meeting space option, making Stowe Mountain Resort the largest meeting venue in Vermont with over 56,000 square-feet of meeting space and the most sought after to hit the New England scene.

Stowe Mountain Lodge is committed to creating memorable meetings and events for every group that steps through the door.  In addition to the incredible on-site amenities including 18-hole Bob Cupp designed golf course and 21,000 square-foot spa and wellness center, the luxury lodge also hosts a dedicated recreational department committed to constantly developing team-building activities.

Stowe Mountain Lodge partners with Charles Shackleton, a local Vermont wood artisan, to offer the lodge’s signature activity-- Shackleton’s Naked Table project.  The Naked Table project allows groups to build an environmentally-friendly table from local trees that are replaced immediately, which they will construct together and take back to their office once completed.  In addition to the Naked Table project, Stowe Mountain Lodge showcases their environmental stewardship with educational themed breaks, s’mores by the firepit, farm and mill tours, guided hikes and snowshoe tours, yoga and stretching sessions, fly-fishing expeditions, golf tournaments and a plethora of other outdoor activities.

To efficiently manage the multitude of activities and meetings options in Stowe, Stowe Mountain Lodge provides clients with a team of professional meeting and conference services managers who are committed to ensuring each event is thoroughly organized and executed.  These dedicated meetings professionals will assist in coordination of an entire event, including elements that occur outside of Stowe Mountain Lodge.  Each element of the event will be personalized to ensure accuracy, efficiency and a complete experience.

The awards and accolades achieved by Stowe Mountain Lodge speak to the quality of the amenities and services at the lodge.  Recently, Stowe Mountain Lodge was voted fifth in the nation and 89th in the world in the annual Condé Nast 2010 Reader’s Choice Awards.  Condé Nast is the leading luxury travel publication in the United States and publishes only four travel awards yearly.  Additionally, this month Condé Nast named Stowe Mountain Lodge sixth on the list of Top 50 Ski Hotels.  The destination of Stowe was listed at tenth on the Top 20 Ski Resorts list.  Both of these accomplishments showcase Stowe Mountain Lodge as a world-class destination and luxury hotel—amongst one of the best in the nation and the world.
