Events for April 2014

  • Learn to Skate-Stowe Arena

    When: From 01/26/2014 to 02/23/2014

    Sundays, January 26th   - February 23rd

    LEVEL 1: For   beginner skaters, designed to create a safe and fun atmosphere to learn how   to sit and stand up on the ice, march standing still, marching and then   gliding on two feet, Dip while moving, rocking horse, beginning to learn how   to stop, and wiggle backwards.

    LEVEL 2: This   program is for those advancing from a beginner level, learning how to swizzle   forwards and backwards, one foot glides, turning forwards to backwards,   slalom and stopping.

    Participants are   permitted attendance to Public Skate after their lesson.

    Helmets are   required for ages 5 and under and recommended for all others. Dress   appropriately, in layers and always wears gloves or mittens. Classes will  only be cancelled if the facility closes or you are notified of a change.

    Price includes   admission to public skate immediately following the lessons.

    Session 1: Sundays,   Dec 8 – Jan 5, 12:15-12:45pm

    Session 2: Sundays,   Jan 26 – Feb 23, 12:15-12:45pm

    Fee: $55 res / $65   non-res per session

    Hockey Initiation   (Skill Development):

    The Hockey   Initiation Program was renamed the Skill Development Program and now includes   the Cross-Ice curriculum. The combination of these two programs places   appropriate emphasis on skill development for each individual player in an   efficient, age appropriate manner. By establishing a solid skill base, while   keeping the travel and participant cost under control. The general   organization for Initiation hockey is to break the rink up into smaller areas   with multiple stations and focus on hockey skills, maximizing touches on the   puck, team work and fun. Cross-Ice games are played by teams formed with two   or three units of three to five players and one goalkeeper, which results in   each player having more ice time.

    Price includes   admission to public skate immediately following the lessons.
