Winter Activities for Groups at the Destination Hotels & Resorts Mountain Collection
Need ideas of where to go and what to do with your group during the winter months? Head for the mountains!
It’s early evening and I’m in the middle of the woods above Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont. It’s kind of cold, but the temperature brings a magical stillness to the surroundings. The moon provides just enough light to guide us along on this snowshoe adventure. Our experienced guide promises us a warm bonfire and hot beverages…. just around the next bend.
This has been a great a winter season for a lot our mountain properties with consistent snow and lots of it! For groups considering a mountain destination for their winter programs, our mountain collection offers more than just skiing and snowboarding as activity options.
Here in Stowe, Vermont, one of our most popular group activities has become guided snowshoe tours. These are great for small groups because they can be tailored to any time of the day and to any level of adventure. Non-skiers love the low risk opportunity to get outside and experience an activity they might never have done on their own. Adventure seekers like to get deep into the woods and explore what the forest holds for them. Kids love any excuse to frolic in the snow!
Besides snowshoeing, non skiers and riders have the choice of guided snowmobile tours, dog sled tours, ice climbing, and of course skating at a nearby ice rink.
One group even created a team challenge of curling on a custom made ice sheet on our terrace. Other groups have run our snowshoe “biathlon” course using environmentally friendly paint guns to shoot targets set about our Nordic Center course. And still others have created snow sculpture contests for their teambuilding programs. When it comes to winter fun, the mountains have endless options.
When a client asks you for a new approach to meetings, consider a mountain destination for a fun winter meeting that everyone can enjoy.
