NICA Ice Carving Competition in Stowe, Vermont
Each year during what is often dubbed the coldest week of the winter, Stowe Winter Carnival aims to entertain the heartiest of Vermonters and Vermont visitors during the cold of January. A highlight of this festival is the annual NICA Ice Carving Competition when ice carvers from around the country descend upon Spruce Peak Plaza and display their talents during a 4 hour competition.
This year, professionals and amateurs, including Stowe Mountain Lodge’s very own pastry chef Gabrielle Hatch, combatted in a super hero theme leaving the plaza donned with the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman and Mighty Mouse. We are proud to say that Gabrielle’s Batman took first place in the amateur division! Be sure to stop by to see their super creations, visit us next year to watch them being created first hand or visit us on Facebook to see the pictures from this year including Gabi's winning sculpture!
