New England Seasons at Stowe Mountain Lodge
As the Landscape Manager at Stowe Mountain Lodge, I enjoy watching the seasons come and go each year in this beautiful spot I am lucky enough to call home. It's been snowing heavily here at SML recently, and the flora and fauna are preparing for winter. I am not talking about getting their skis sharpened, but taking the needed steps to ensure survival through the long season ahead.
Nature does an impressive job of preparation in this harsh alpine environment. With the focus on self preservation, everything is physiologically programmed to maintain life, which will pay off in the spring. But for now, efforts are well under way. It all makes getting my skis tuned seem rather insignificant when I look at what our natural surroundings are doing to make sure that next spring and summer are as beautiful as the last. It's my favorite aspect of the cycle of nature and the seasons and one I know I appreciate every day here in Stowe, Vermont.
