Maple-Cheddar Apple Pie at Stowe Mountain Lodge this Thanksgiving!
There’s just something about a really good homemade apple pie that can transform a family dinner, particularly during the holidays. Talk to any Vermont foodie and apple pie is always a staple for winning over a crowd.
That’s why when we first tried our pastry chef, Chelsea Whittemore’s signature Apple-Cheddar Pie, we knew we had something special that our guests would simply love. Topped with a cheddar cheese crumble that’s made with Shelburne Farm cheese, Chelsea’s maple apple pie goes beyond the traditional pies most Vermonters serve on Thanksgiving.Â
Chelsea, a native Vermonter herself, grew up baking with her grandma in Waterville and knew she wanted to go into the culinary arts at a young age. It was later, after attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, she discovered that being a pastry chef was her true calling.Â
“I’ve always enjoyed making desserts, especially my grandma’s special recipes, and here at the Lodge I love sharing recipes that are native to Vermont like my Maple-Cheddar Apple Pie. I love baking things that make people happy and desserts do just that.”Â
She first brought her signature Apple Pie to the Lodge for a wedding tasting, where the bride- and groom-to-be asked for a dessert that was “truly Vermont.” Chelsea came up with small single-serving pies that had a flakey crust, maple and apple filing and her signature cheddar cheese crumble. Since then, it’s become a Lodge favorite and guests have even asked to meet her after tasting her pie.Â
We’re excited to be offering the pie for Thanksgiving so that guests and locals alike can enjoy Chelsea’s pie on this special holiday, and, even better, each pie comes with Chelsea’s special recipe.Â
Call 802-760-4732 by November 17 to order your pies for $18 each. Believe us when we say your family will thank you…and will most likely do all the Thanksgiving dishes after tasting this dessert-now that’s priceless!
