Loving Life in Vermont and Stowe Mountain Lodge
Growing up in New York, I quickly became accustomed to the fast-paced lifestyle of a city dweller, and grew comfortable living in a concrete jungle. The bright lights, loud traffic, and constant flow of people around you on the sidewalks is an exhilarating atmosphere. Always seeing new faces, experiencing new cultures, and having the opportunity to explore new neighborhoods is part of why we choose to live in metropolitan areas. City life is for the adventuresome.
It is no coincidence that Stowe Mountain Lodge attracts so many guests from all the major cities in New England. Though we are nestled into the lush mountainside of Vermont, there is no shortage of opportunities for exploring new terrain. From “skinning up the mountain” (Vermonter speak for hiking up the mountain by foot, for an incredible run down the mountain through fresh, untouched powder), to dog sledding under the stars, hiking, and snowshoe tours (it’s much safer to be a pedestrian up here), you’ll have the freedom to experience a new landscape no matter your preferred mode of transit.
If you’d prefer to expand your horizons from a luxurious, warm, indoor accommodation, I suggest you explore our Vermont and wellness center. Along with all the personal care and therapeutic offerings you would expect, our spa welcomes guests to indulge in sound therapy, an innovative ritual that will relax and balance you, as music and tones resonate through the water in your body. Relaxation and rejuvenation are the driving principles of the staff at the spa, so if you’ve come to Stowe to leave behind the stresses of home, look no further.
Hoping to immerse yourself in a new culture? I can personally attest to the fact that coming to the Green Mountain State is like crossing the border into another country-a wonderful country! One of the most noticeable differences I observed upon moving here is how fresh all of the food tastes. Though you won’t find 24-hour fast food restaurants on every corner, you may just find yourself becoming hooked on the flavor of a burger made from grass-fed beef, with locally sourced condiments on a freshly baked roll. There just isn’t anything available in a big city that can compare to the quality of “farm-to-table” cuisine. Our chefs in Solstice and Hourglass have crafted an outstanding menu that boasts a wide variety of local fare, served by waiters and waitresses who will attend to you in the timely fashion you would expect from an upscale eatery in any major city.
I invite you to join us here at Stowe Mountain Lodge for your next adventure. We promise you all the excitement of a big city, but with the hospitality and warmth of a small town. Don’t be surprised when our associates remember you, and call you by name, as you are more than just a face in the crowd to us: you are our special guest. Enjoy your stay!
