Learning to Snowboard in Stowe, Vermontphoto

After a not-so-great group ski lesson long ago as a child, I vowed to never go back on the mountain ever again. But last Friday with some convincing from a teammate and friend, I decided that it was time to give it another shot.

The beautiful weather and perfect snow conditions at Stowe Mountain Resort had brought out many skiers and riders to Spruce Peak and we were lucky that we were able to snag our instructor Drew.

My co-worker and I ended up being the only two in the group, which made for a more personal and enjoyable lesson.  During the hour-and-a-half with Drew, I finally experienced what it felt like to traverse down the mountain and how to be ‘toe-side’ and ‘heel side’ to control my descent.  After the lesson we headed over to the Spruce Camp “Great Room for an Après Ski beverage and enjoyed some live music from a local band.

I love being a part of the Stowe Mountain Lodge team for many reasons, but getting on a snowboard and learning to "ride" down the mountain with one of the top ski school's in the country, makes my job that much sweeter!
