Stowe Mountain Lodge Blog
While I was a sophomore at Cornell, a professor told me to get an externship for a few weeks in the housekeeping department so I could state that I had housekeeping experience on my resume. Well, I went to work in housekeeping that winter and have not left!
Many people ask me why I enjoy working in one of the hardest departments in a hotel; the answer for me is simple. The people. Every day I aim to help those around me grow as people and to increase their potential. I believe everyone can reach their goals, no matter how big or how small. I do this by running a department founded on trust and open and honest communication.
Here at Stowe Mountain Lodge, we have anywhere from 35 to 100 members on the housekeeping team, depending on the season. Each person on the team needs to be treated like an individual and it is my job to find out what motivates each individual to perform the challenging job of a housekeeper.
I love to motivate people and make sure they are having the most positive experience possible, whether those people are my employees, colleagues, or guests.
I am honored to be named to Hotel Management Magazine'slist of "30 Under 30" (Thirty hotel proessionals succeeding at the top of their field, all under the age of thirty.) It'a a privlage to be on this list for 2013, but the real privilege is arriving at work each day to an incredible team of housekeepers who make such a difference to each and everyone of the guests at Stowe Mountain Lodge.
