Clean the World - The Hard, Clean Facts
Have you ever wondered what happens to the soap you leave behind in your hotel room when on vacation? Or what about that small bottle of shampoo? Does it really just go into the trash? In the United States alone, more than 1.5 million bars of gently used soap are thrown away every day. At the same time, it is estimated that 9,000 children a day die from diseases that can be prevented by simple hand washing. The Housekeeping Department at Stowe Mountain Lodge decided to do something about these harsh statistics.
By becoming a partner of Clean the World, an organization that distributes recycled soap products to impoverished countries worldwide, as well as domestic homeless shelters, Stowe Mountain Lodge is helping to prevent at least some of these needless deaths. Stowe Mountain Lodge is the sixth resort in Vermont to join the program. Clean the World is currently focusing its efforts domestically and in India.
