At Home Composting in 6 Steps
It’s Earth Month here at Stowe Mountain Lodge.  Help preserve the environment by making your own homemade compost in 6 easy steps!
- Capture all organics generated in your household. Here, organics are defined as anything edible or constructed from natural elements. For example, food scraps, compostable plates, cups, and utensils, yard waste, and even paper products.
- Place Organics into a pile or composting apparatus, preferably outside. To build your own container, simply build a wooden box shape with a lid and build sides with mesh wire to allow airflow.
- Add organics. Turn it, mix it, move it around. The introduction of oxygen is essential.
- Repeat Steps 1-3
- After a while (about a year), voila!, Enjoy your own homemade compost for your garden.
Of course, there are many tricks to creating the perfect blend. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at ablais@destinationhotels.com or for more detailed information go to www.composting vermont.org. Happy Earth Month from Stowe Mountain Lodge.
