Stowe Mountain Lodge Blog
“In recognition of the need to preserve the world in which we operate and serve our guests, Stowe Mountain Lodge is dedicated to practices and programs that pay respect to, and lessen our footprint on, our changing environment.”
A vital part of our success has been the relationships we have formed with like minded organizations, all with a common goal of uncompromised environmental stewardship.
At the very top of that list is Audubon International, with whom Stowe has been working with for a decade now.
“Through education, technical assistance, certification and recognition, Audubon International facilitates the implementation of environmental management practices that ensure natural resources are sustainably used and conserved.”
This past week I had the pleasure of touring the resort with the Audubon team as Stowe Mountain Lodge’s certification was up for renewal. We engaged the entire SML team, as all areas were visited and reviewed. It was a true pleasure to see my teammates explain with great pride their commitments in their respective areas.
The visit was capped off with our monthly Green Team meeting, in which the Audubon team joined us and gave a summary of their visit. We were given a Gold rating, which is fully aligned with our Destination Earth sustainability program. Perhaps the most special moment of the visit is when we were told the stewardship culture we have at the Lodge is unparralled.
As the Audubon team drove away, I glanced up at Mt. Mansfield in full foliage glory, and was simply humbled to be part of it all. I know my teammates feel the same way!
Stowe is the only resort in the Audubon portfolio to have a Green Lodging Program Gold Rated Hotel (Stowe Mountain Lodge), a Sustainable Community Designation (Spruce Peak), and a Signature Program Golf Course Designation (Stowe Mountain Club Golf Course).
