2014 Vermont Wedding Trends at Stowe Mountain Lodge
It's my favorite time of year at Stowe Mountain Lodge-wedding season! It's the time for love, happiness, family and celebrations. When one of our wedding couples is on property, with all of their friends and loved ones, it makes this special place that much more special. And I love seeing all of our wedding couples' hard work and creativity come to life for their friends and families. Here are some of the top wedding trends in 2014 that I am seeing at Stowe Mountain Lodge.
Reduce, Reuse, REMEMBER!: Brides have been really focused on how they can reuse their floral pieces. One of our Autumn Brides used fresh flowers in mason jars for their pew markers and then reused them on the tall cocktail rounds as centerpieces. Brides have started posing the question, “How can I reuse this?” and as a result they get to enjoy their selections twice!
A beautiful centerpiece by candlelight is just as lovely the next day at brunch!
Vintage meets Rustic Elegance: Most summer weddings in Stowe, VT this year are similarly themed. Burlap with lace, moss and birch bark, pewter and barn wood…. It’s absolutely terrific! I love seeing the antique finds such as old house numbers for table numbers or old chalkboard signs and vintage doors to lead their guests to the ceremony. The integration of old and new makes it extra special. Stowe is quite similar to the décor of the tables. It has great stories from the past but so many being made for the future.
Hearing stories about why the couples chose this venue also elevates the experience. “I learned how to ski on this mountain”, “this is where our parents met”, “this was my happy place in college”. Stowe Mountain Lodge is at the center of the mountain, it sees all of these stories and celebrates them!
Wedding Weekends: Every Bride that I have spoken with in the past couple of years will always ask me, “What type of activities can you we do in Stowe, VT?” Brides are not just thinking about the Wedding Day, they are thinking about the skiing, the hiking, the kayaking, THE ADVENTURE! They want people to leave their wedding and feel inspired and rejuvenated.
That is what Stowe is all about! We provide an experience for all of their guests.
“You can’t have your Cake and eat it too….”: Who said I wanted cake?! Many Stowe Mountain Lodge Brides take the opportunity to provide something different. Perhaps a late night Ben & Jerry’s party with various flavors or a tower of delicious Maple Macarons and Cupcakes or Mini Apple Pies with Vermont Cheddar. It’s all about recognizing the Vermont flavors at the dessert table.
We hope to see you at a Stowe Mountain Lodge wedding in 2014, whether it be your own or a loved ones, we look forward to celebrating with you. Happy Planning! -Gabi
